When content feels hard to make

A mock up for some of my recent print ideas. Something that came to me on my dog walk

Let’s face it: we all have those days when the creative juices just aren’t flowing. And hitting a creative block is a frustrating experience. Firstly, give yourself permission to take a break.

It’s okay to step away from your work and getting out in nature is my best remedy. Sometimes, a little distance is all you need to reignite your creativity.

When you’re feeling stuck, it can be helpful to seek inspiration from others. Watch videos, read articles, listen to podcasts and pay attention to what resonates. But try avoiding socials for a time.

A change of scenery can work wonders. If you usually work from home, try heading to a coffee shop, a park, or a coworking space. Sometimes, a new environment can provide the fresh perspective you need to break out of a creative rut.

Feeling overwhelmed by the thought of creating an entire piece of content? Break it down into smaller, more manageable tasks. Set achievable goals for yourself, such as writing a single paragraph, recording a short video clip, or brainstorming ideas for your next project. Celebrate your small victories.

Perfectionism is the enemy of creativity. Remember that it’s okay for your content to be imperfect. Don’t get bogged down trying to make everything flawless—focus on getting your ideas out into the world, even if they’re not perfect. Your audience will appreciate your authenticity and vulnerability.

Above all, be kind to yourself. Creative blocks are a natural part of the creative process, and they don’t define your worth! Give yourself grace and permission to take things one step at a time. Remember that creativity ebbs and flows. And if you use force, it won’t work.
