5 Essential Tools for Nervous System Support
Here is a gentle guide from someone who finally understands the power of slowing down
Life is feeling fast at the moment as we head into the Summer time proper.
And bordering on overwhelming for sensitive, creative minds like mine. As a photographer and actor, I’m often holding space for others, helping them feel confident, seen, and at ease. But for that to happen, I have to look after my own nervous system.
Over the years, I’ve ignored this, pushed myself and been on the brink of burnout, especially in those wedding years.
But I’ve finally got myself a daily ritual that is easy, memorable and quick!
Here are my five essential tools for nervous system support, including two absolute heroes from Fushi that I use and love every day.
1. Starting with the day with movement, I swear the difference it makes is unreal. I’m currently week 8 into T25, a 25m daily HIIT. And only possible because I’m in my living room, and it’s quick.
2. Fushi Castor oil + Fushi Jojoba oil blend with a drop of frankincense. I mix these and use them on my face before gua sha or massage and the jojobaa on its own makes a really good eye make-up remover and I love that I can stop buying unnecessary skincare products. The castor oil is nourishing and detoxifying but more than that, the ritual itself is what regulates me at night: warm oil, stillness, no one talking to me!! And the jojoba is the closest to our natural skin sebum, which means it’s not just skincare
2. Nature walking after meal times feels like a reset.
3 Journaling to release what’s not mine
4. Not multitasking, which is a big change for me as I used to feel so accomplished listening to one thing while doing another, esp when cooking or washing pots. But it’s tiring me out. This isn’t about doing more in my day, but I now prioritise doing what actually regulates me.

I’d love to know what you think. I’m not a skin care expert but I am a woman who has brought herself back from the edge of burnout and now actually remembers to take her make-up off at night.
Let m know if you try these, I’d love to hear your thoughts.
